Apparently, their claims dept. sux. So therefore, if you are a vendor and ship USPS, you are essentially sending your goods out with no chance of recompense if they are lost. So smaller shippers don't use USPS.
However, I have had many lost shipments with major couriers (both through work and buying private car parts), and they not only can't find them, but don't offer recompensation, just a claims dept. that is inexorably slow at processing, much like *cough* USPS is accused of doing. We are still fighting several lost claims through several major couriers (UPS, Purolater, Fedex) at work, and I have had no follow-up on lost items from Fedex and UPS over the last two years. Given up on the shipments, now dealing with the shipping bills they insist on collecting with no shipment received :/
No lost items through post, however.
No advantage.
